Scottish Government Funding · Available to All Homeowners
Home Energy Scotland Grant & Loan
A Scottish Government scheme providing homeowners with a free grant — and an optional interest-free loan — towards the cost of installing a heat pump. Available to all Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire homeowners regardless of income.
How Much Can You Get?
- Up to £7,500 as a free grant — money you never have to pay back
- Up to £9,000 grant for rural and island Aberdeenshire homes
- Optional interest-free loan of up to £7,500 — repayable over up to 10 years at 0%
- Combined maximum of £15,000 (or £16,500 for rural homes) in grant and loan funding
Do You Qualify?
- You own your home and it is your primary residence in Scotland
- The property is an existing building — not a new build
- The heat pump will provide 100% of your heating and hot water
- Your installer is MCS certified
- You have a valid EPC or Home Energy Scotland assessment recommending the improvement
You do not need to be on benefits to qualify. Funding is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so it's worth applying sooner rather than later.
